Focus on Dimensions
Check the actual mm length and width dimensions (noted on the diamond certificate) of the cushion not just the carat weight. A well cut 0.9ct cushion will have better dimensions, and look bigger, than many 1ct cushion cut diamonds. This helps to maximize visual impact and reduce the cost.
Check the Length to Width Ratio
Not all cushion cut diamonds are the same “shape”. Some are rectangular whilst others are more square in appearance – you need to decide which shape you like the most.
Colour is Important
Cushion cut diamonds show colour more than round diamonds. For a single solitaire design aim for i colour or better. For a halo design aim for G colour or better.
